Writing, drawing, and reading

Other ways people can use to improve their memory are the following simple and unexpected things: writing, drawing, and reading. All of them can help people in improving their memory, especially in expressing ideas. The most important part here is how everyone can collect their ideas, process them, and then express it to other people. The next stage is how to make the ideas clear so everyone can understand it. (Image by fabbio via Flickr)

This is a basic skill that everyone should have since human is a social beings who cannot live without the others. Expressing ideas may become tougher than other exercises since this is also about confidence and talking to other people. Everyone has tongue to speak, but not everyone can speak clearly especially when they are asked to express their ideas about something. Physical Wellness Indicates Physical Health

Anna Banana (34/52)Continuing on the topic of wellness, physical wellness is something that must be kept in mind because in order to achieve wellness in all the other aspects attainable you must remember being fit comes along with it. Most people do not understand that you can be fit, but that does not mean that you’re fit in a healthy manner. That also encourages questions about health to be asked. (Image by Suus Wansink via Flickr)

  • What do you think of, when you hear the term health?
  • What kind of picture is created in your head, when someone tells you, that they are healthy?

You probably already know that in order to prevent the occurrence of heart disease, you should eat foods that are less fatty, or to reduce the possibility of cancer should not smoke cigarettes, and also to practice preventive medical examinations.

But this is still not the whole picture of physical health. Other components are also important, including:

1. Social health, which is the ability to interact with people and the environment in which interpersonal relationships will be carried out with a pleasant feeling.

2. Mental health is the human ability to learn and to soar intellectually.

3. Emotional health is the ability to control emotions and opportunity for appropriate expression.

4. Spiritual health is a belief in a unified force, which is different from person to person.

So when we talk about health, we shouldn’t only focus on our body, but to be interested in social interaction, intellectual dimension, emotions and spirit. Health is the sum of the physical, social, emotional, mental, spiritual status, and the balanced and healthy nutrition.

All these health components are present to a greater or lesser extent. If these components are balanced, then we can say that someone has a perfect wellness condition.

WHAT does it mean to be fit?

To be “fit” means to own all of the above identified aspects or components of fitness. But not only the physical but also the social, mental, emotional, spiritual, and the most important: balanced and healthy diet.

In the past, people significantly less get sick of modern diseases such as cancer, heart disease, blood pressure, etc… And it owes on the much more active and less stressful life, the organic and healthy food, and the soil at that time was much richer in minerals than today.

Fast Weight Loss Exercises

A Brand New DayWith working out you want the best weight loss results possible. Well we all know you must first have the motivation to lose weight. In order to have the motivation and want to lose weight, you should try work outs that are fun to you. If you are having fun working out you will have no choice but to enjoy it and lose weight. That is the goal at the end of the day. (Image by Thomas Hawk via Flickr)

Beginning is often the Hardest Part

People often make it harder than it really is in their minds. You wonder what to eat for breakfast, then lunch then dinner. You over think snack foods. You obsess over what to eat while working. It’s very simple, plan your meals. When you plan each meal and snack for a week at a time, you take much of the guesswork in losing weight out of the equation. Shop for what you need to eat for the whole week. Try your best to pick natural whole foods in each meal and snack. Pair a carbohydrate with a protein, being careful not to eat too much of either. Another important part of the beginning process is not to get upset with yourself if you fail at eating well. No one eats perfectly. Be kind to yourself and realize you are making a total lifestyle change in the decision to lose weight.

Beginning an Exercise Program

When beginning an exercise program there are a few things to consider. First, take it slow. Many people go fast and furious at first and either hurt themselves or burn out. Safety is very important. Instead of attempting to do 30 push-ups, try to do five or ten push-ups correctly. Form in exercise is very important. Another important item to consider is beginning with a low impact exercise. Do not expect to be able to do P90X or Insanity your first week of working out. Start with a walk. Aim to walk a mile or so a day. Gradually increase your activity level until you can tolerate hard exercises for thirty plus minutes per day.

Not all Exercise Burns the same Calories

When exercising in order to lose weight, the whole purpose is to get the maximum burn to burn the most calories. When you walk at two miles per hour, you are not burning the calories when you are walking uphill at four miles per hour. Running of course burns more calories than walking. Interval training, which is exercise at your maximum effort for a period for 30 to 90 seconds followed by a minute of rest, is one of the best forms of cardio exercise. It is said to burn three times the calories when compared to just walking or running for the whole 30 minutes. When making the lifestyle change to become a healthier you, expect yourself to fall short some days. Expect greatness on some day too. Expect to feel tired at times and feel like you can conquer the world at other times. It is often a growing experience from the inside out. A good part of being overweight is often the mental part. Mentally we feel unloved, fat and unworthy of being thin. Overcome that mentality and that is most of the battle. When you look back at how much weight loss you experienced, you will amaze yourself.

Vegetable Nutrition Facts

Colours of HealthSome of us may not be fans of vegetables; I admit I do not like them (I give exceptions to carrots and pickles). The thing is as much as some of may not like them; we need them for our bodies to function properly. Without vegetables we are not getting the vitamins and so forth that we need. Without all these things our bodies need from vegetables our body is not able to cleanse itself. Here is a nutrition analysis of vegetables! (Image by Alex E. Proimos via Flickr)

What are the health benefits of vegetables?

  • Vegetables, like fruits, are low in fat but contain good amounts of vitamins and minerals. All the Green-Yellow-Orange vegetables are rich sources of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, beta-carotene, vitamin B-complex, vitamin-C, vitamin A, and vitamin K.
  • As in fruits, vegetables too are home for many antioxidants that; firstly, help protect the human body from oxidant stress, diseases and cancers, and secondly; help the body develop the capacity to fight against these by boosting immunity.
  • Additionally, vegetables are packed with soluble as well as insoluble dietary fiber known as non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) such as cellulose, mucilage, hemi-cellulose, gums, pectin…etc. These substances absorb excess water in the colon, retain a good amount of moisture in the fecal matter, and help its smooth passage out of the body. Thus, sufficient fiber offers protection from conditions like hemorrhoids, colon cancer, chronic constipation, and rectal fissures.

Vegetable nutrition has widely drawn the attention of fitness conscious as well as food scientists alike for their proven health benefits. Majority of day to day used vegetables are very low in calories.

Furthermore, human body spends a considerable amount of energy for the metabolism of foods, which is known as BMR or Basal metabolism rate. So just imagine…when you add lots of vegetable nutrition in the diet, in fact, you set to lose more weight than you would gain…Right!..This is the concept behind the “negative calorie foods.”

Nutrition is formally defined as “The provision, to cells and organisms, of the materials necessary in the form of food to support life”. Nutrition as a whole is studied as the process in which nourishing food is eaten, digested and assimilated by the body to help it grow and stay fit.

Nutrition provides the body with the strength and ability to pursue our work. The protein nutrition helps the body build and repair cells. It is required to build and maintain the organ systems. The carbohydrate’s intake is broken down into glucose, which provides energy to the body to perform. The fatty acids help the body gain energy and also supply essential nutrients to organs, skin and hairs. Vitamins and minerals obtained from all foods are required for physical and mental growth of the body.

The fiber intake from fresh fruits and vegetables help the body maintain its cleanliness. The water content is one of the most important factors that keep the body hydrated. Carbohydrates, fats and proteins are together called as macro nutrients and the vitamins and minerals are called as micronutrients. The combination of these two nutrients is required to build immunity and to fight against infections and illness.

With an increase in the awareness for health, nutrition is a science that is witnessing a huge growth as more people are getting aware of this fact. People are going to professional help to keep them fit and realize their full potential in their chosen area of work. The definition of nutrition is not just mere sustenance; it is about the realization of the full potential of the human body. It has been proven beyond doubt that any person’s full potential cannot be discovered without the proper nutrition in them. The nutrition in people varies mainly based on their age, height, weight, location and area of work.

How to be Happy.

Getting to Happy

No Cop, No Stop, I Don't Care *Explored*In order to be happy, there are certain things that you; yourself has to stop doing in order to get happy. We all have flaws that in turn affect us, rather it be talking about someone or always being late. These flaws do affect our mood and whether or not we can be happy. These issues are usually an underlining source to something else that is bothering us. Here are 10 things that you can stop doing that will make you more happier: (Image by Sean Molin Photography via Flickr)

Blaming

People make mistakes. Taking responsibility when things go wrong instead of blaming others isn’t masochistic, it’s empowering—because then you focus on doing things better or smarter next time. And when you get better or smarter, you also get happier.

Impressing

No one likes you for your clothes, your car, your possessions, your title, or your accomplishments. Those are all “things.” People may like your things—but that doesn’t mean they like you. Sure, superficially they might seem to, but superficial is also insubstantial, and a relationship that is not based on substance is not a real relationship. Genuine relationships make you happier, and you’ll only form genuine relationships when you stop trying to impress and start trying to just be yourself.

Clinging

Holding on to what you think you need won’t make you happier; letting go so you can reach for and try to earn what you want will. Even if you don’t succeed in earning what you want, the act of trying alone will make you feel better about yourself.

Interrupting

Interrupting isn’t just rude. When you interrupt someone, what you’re really saying is, “I’m not listening to you so I can understand what you’re saying; I’m listening to you so I can decide what I want to say.” Want people to like you? Listen to what they say. Focus on what they say. Ask questions to make sure you understand what they say. They’ll love you for it—and you’ll love how that makes you feel.

Whining

Your words have power, especially over you. Whining about your problems makes you feel worse, not better. If something is wrong, don’t waste time complaining. Put that effort into making the situation better. Don’t talk about what’s wrong. Talk about how you’ll make things better, even if that conversation is only with yourself. And do the same with your friends or colleagues. Don’t just be the shoulder they cry on. Friends don’t let friends whine—friends help friends make their lives better.

Controlling

The only thing you really control is you. If you find yourself trying hard to control other people, you’ve decided that you, your goals, your dreams, or even just your opinions are more important than theirs. Plus, control is short term at best, because it often requires force, or fear, or authority, or some form of pressure—none of those let you feel good about yourself. Find people who want to go where you’re going. They’ll work harder, have more fun, and create better business and personal relationships. And all of you will be happier.

Criticizing

Yeah, you’re more educated. Yeah, you’re more experienced. Yeah, you’ve been around more blocks and climbed more mountains and slayed more dragons. That doesn’t make you smarter, or better, or more insightful. That just makes you you: unique, matchless, one of a kind, but in the end, just you. Just like everyone else. Everyone is different: not better, not worse, just different. Appreciate the differences instead of the shortcomings and you’ll see people—and yourself—in a better light.

Preaching

The higher you rise and the more you accomplish, the more likely you are to think you know everything—and to tell people everything you think you know. When you speak with more finality than foundation, people may hear you but they don’t listen. Few things are sadder and leave you feeling less happy.

Dwelling

The past is valuable. Learn from your mistakes. Learn from the mistakes of others. Then let it go. When something bad happens to you, see that as a chance to learn something you didn’t know. When another person makes a mistake, see that as an opportunity to be kind, forgiving, and understanding.

Fearing

We’re all afraid: of what might or might not happen, of what we can’t change, or what we won’t be able to do, or how other people might perceive us. So it’s easier to hesitate, to wait for the right moment, to decide we need to think a little longer or do some more research or explore a few more alternatives.

Definintion of Wellness

Butterfly flying free from cupped handsBefore jumping in and starting all these fitness regiments many people question, what exactly is wellness? What is physical wellness and how do I reach this? Well now you will finally learn what wellness is and maybe put your own twist on it. (Image by Beverly & Pack via Flickr)

As best as I can tell, there is not a universally accepted definition of wellness. Therefore, neither is there only one way to measure wellness. The medical model focuses mainly on the absence of illness, disease or disability. The holistic model encompasses all aspects of the person, including environment.  Where can we find the middle ground that helps us make an accurate assessment of our own health?

My personal definition of wellness is one that I have created over the years through my studies and my work: Wellness is much more than the absence of disease or infirmity. Total wellness includes individuals assuming personal responsibility for shaping and adopting healthy lifestyles, in order to achieve optimal levels of health (physical, spiritual, mental, emotional), including social well being and economic productivity.

How do you define wellness?
